Ed Zierhoffer (Zeke) is looking for any groups of fellow retirees on or near the west coast of Florida. Let us know if you are out there! Volunteer Events For Retirees AARP TAX-AIDE SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR 2008 This year, AARP Tax-Aide, the nation's largest free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service is seeking volunteers to assist in tax assistance and to become leadership coordinators. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome; you do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to volunteer. Volunteers receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. They help taxpayers one-on-one at tax sites. It is a great way to learn new skills and to be involved in your community. Leadership positions coordinate program delivery by volunteers at sites at the local, state, or regional level or manage specific program activities such as technology, training, administration, or communications. Although tax training and certification are encouraged, it is not required for many leadership positions. Last year the Program's volunteers helped more than two million taxpayers nation-wide with their federal and state returns. You can be part of this dynamic team by calling toll-free 1-888-AARPNOW (1-888-227-7669) or logging on to www.aarp.org/taxaide. AARP Tax-Aide is a program of the AARP Foundation, offered in conjunction with the IRS. The AARP Foundation is an affiliated, 501(c)(3) nonpartisan charitable organization, established in 1961.
