VOLUNTEER. opportunities in your community
Since 1991, the RE-SEED program at Northeastern University has trained volunteer retired, scientists, engineers and other science-focused professionals to work in Massachusetts classrooms with elementary and high school science teachers and students to enhance learning experiences. From a beginning of seven volunteers the program has grown to over eighty volunteers. If you are a retired scientist, engineer or other science professional we need your help in making our Boston area schools among the best in the country for science education. When you join the RE-SEED program you associate with your peers and contribute to science education in a unique manner. You will be asked to attend 32 hours of training and to agree to assist in a classroom one day a week for a school year. This is a big commitment and those who make it are highly regarded. The fact that 70% of RE-SEED volunteers come back the next year is evidence that they feel the experience is rewarding. If you would like to learn more about RE-SEED you can call Paul Conroy at 617-373-8388 or go to www.bostonreseedcenter.org. You are invited to attend an information session about the RE-SEED program on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Northeastern University. Luncheon will be provided as well as complimentary parking. Call Paul Conroy at 617-373-8388 to register. The Fall 2009 Volunteer Training program at Northeastern University begins on Monday, September 14, 2009. Visit the website for details. Contact: Paul Conroy 508-878-9013 (cell) 617-373-8388 |
